My Attendance
Event Details
Join Madeline and her Tibetan family at 4:30 pm, Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the folk arts center, Folklore Village Farm, 37 miles west of Madison, for the launch of How to Make a Life: A Tibetan Refugee Family and the Midwestern Woman They Adopted.
She will first introduce the family, show some slides, and read briefly from the book. Then at 6:30 pm there’s a potluck dinner (please bring a dish to pass).
Students from the Saturday School of Tibetan Language and Culture will perform some dances and the gifted teacher, Ms. Tenzin Choedon, graduate of and performer for the Tibetan Institute of Tibetan Arts in Dharamsala, India, will gather all in a circle to show how easy it is to absorb Tibetan rhythms into one’s feet.
How to Make a Life is a story of the phenomenal gifts that this one group of refugees has brought to Wisconsin (and to Madeline). This evening will be a perfect illustration of how diversity enriches us unexpectedly, and how opening our doors to welcome others somehow makes own own hearts bigger. Proceeds from How to Make a Life go to the Wisconsin Tibetan Association.
